If you are looking for a good trusty electric car, the Nissan Leaf is a model you should seriously consider. It is an unpretentious, practical EV that covers all the basics and that is why it has been topping electric sales charts for a decade.

    The New Nissan Leaf: Price

The latest model has come a long way since the debut of the first one in 2011. Styling and range have improved dramatically and many fundamentals have been nailed. Pricing starts at $31,670.

The Leaf is a compact hatchback that can be had in two versions: the Leaf and the Leaf Plus. It uses a 40 kWh battery pack, giving you about 150 miles of range. The Leaf Plus steps it up to 62 kWh, with a 226 miles range. Both versions however have more than enough juice to cover your regular daily driving.

The Leaf’s electric motor outputs 147 horsepower, while the more powerful motor on the Leaf Plus delivers 214 horsepower. The former will accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds.

    Interior and Features

The interior of the Nissan Leaf is thoughtfully designed and definitely does not give off any cheap vibes despite the price. You can however get an optional light gray leather interior if you want things to be nicer. There is a 7-inch screen that serves as the instrument cluster, which you can set to show different displays. An 8-inch screen will fulfill your infotainment needs. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are integrated but you will pony up extra for the navigation system. There is a standard six-speaker audio system but the higher trims give you a Bose seven-speaker setup. The seats are comfortable and five adults will fit in nicely. Cargo space is ample.

Between the versions, Nissan is offering three different trims. The S is the basic trim and has a roster of features such as 16-inch wheels, rear spoiler, illuminated charge port, four USB ports, push-start button, etc. The next trim is the SV and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, foglights, quick charge ports, electronic parking brake, driver attention warning, etc. The highest trim is the SL with a cargo cover, etc.

The driving experience is smooth. The Leaf responds sharply like it is waiting for you to accelerate. Cornering is predictable.

Both versions have an e-Pedal, which lets the driver switch between different regenerative braking modes that actually recharge the battery. Safety features that are standard are automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assists, blind-spot monitoring, and blind-spot intervention.

In all, the new Nissan is set to carry on the legacy of dependability that has endeared its predecessors to many fans.

Was hesitant at first to transfer the deposit for the car, but as it turned out it my worries were unwarranted. Thank you for you honest and genuine experience. Definitely will be buying more cars through you!

In 2019 we bought the first car and it came after two and a half month as planned. Now we are waiting for the fifth and sixth delivery of cars and motorcycles, in total we have bought 12 cars and were not dissatisfied with any of them. Full support with good pictures and documentation on the cars before the auctions have started. After we won the auction, TokyoCarz has directly arranged good logistics with shipping both with RoRo and container directly to us in Sweden. Many thanks for a well done job and we will continue cooperating with you for several years to come. / Anders

It is hard to know who to bid at Japan car auctioneers with. I tried TokyoCarZ when I was travelling overseas. I must admit I was nervous. They made my experience easy and went above and beyond for me. I have since bid with confidence multiple times as they earned my trust.A++++ experience. - Marcus
